Meet a Class 121, aka Bubble Car.
2 x 150 bhp engines, four speed semi automatic box, max 75 mph.

Wales.
That particular unit was on sale at the time and was bought by a heritage line,

German- part of Deutsche Bahn. We do have a nationalised railway system, it’s just owned by other nations...

I recognize that livery, I think they also run around the Midlands (Wikipedia seems to confirm this).
